Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) is a well-known company of highly dependable, low-cost PC chipsets, and their Ethernet cards are mainly popular as cheap solution for adding networking ability to PC. Install SiS Ethernet controller in PC to include PC to wired home network.
Instructions
Step 1
Shut down PC, and take out all cables. Put PC tower on a workbench or table for simple access.
Step 2
Open PC tower. Based on company, it has a tab or button on back to release side panel, or cover protected to framework with screws that should be removed. After cover or side panel is removed, turn case on its side. You must now be looking straight down at motherboard.
Step 3
Find an open expansion slot on motherboard. In PC case, every expansion slot will have a metal cover which will either want to be unscrewed, or pushed out. Take out the metal cover.
Step 4
Press Ethernet controller softly into upgrade slot. The card's port will be visible from back of PC, where metal cover was removed. Screw the card tightly to the PC framework.
Step 5
Close PC tower; go back it to its unique place, and connect cables back in. Turn on PC. In many cases, new editions of Windows enable to detect controller and install drivers for it mechanically. You want to have a driver disk or CD ready, though. If Ethernet controller did not come with drivers, download them from SiS website.
