Installing a video card to motherboard is easier than you think. So long as you do it properly, it's rather simple and involves only a little amount of time and effort.
Instructions
Step 1
Search out what kind of connection video card has. Almost every video card will attach by PCI, PCI-Express, PCI-Express 2.0, or AGP. If you do not know this data already, See specifications printed on manual of video card. If you purchased an open-box or utilized video card, find model number and find specifications on company's website.
Step 2
Find proper slot in motherboard for video card. These slots must be labeled, but if they are not, they are simple to recognize. If connection is PCI, slot will have a long slot on left and a little slot on right with a thin divider among them. If connection is PCI-Express or PCI-Express 2.0, slot will have short slot on left and a longer one on right with a thin divider among them. If connection is AGP, slot will have a long slot on left and a small slot on right with a thin divider among them and a clip on far right side of it to hold card in place.
Step 3
Put in video card into motherboard. Make sure that you are grounded always or utilize an anti-static wrist strap. You can ground manually by keeping any part of skin touching metal of PC case. If you come across any problems, check video card and/or motherboard company's websites for more help and technical support.
