The other choice to attach wireless or Wi-Fi printer to PC is by Ad hoc connection. This kind of network is known as peer-to-peer means it does not need an access point, like current wireless router, to link connection. This is easy to achieve and will always useful when you have problems attaching to current wireless network. Here explain setup a wireless printer by Ad hoc connection in five steps.

Instructions

Step 1

Initially, we want to make Ad hoc network that will give wireless connection among PC and printer. On right hand part of Taskbar, right click on wireless icon and select "View Available Wireless Networks". Or double click wireless icon, then tick "View Wireless Networks". It is also available from Control Panel. Either way, similar window as shown in step 2 will appear.

Step 2

Wireless Network Connection window displays all wireless networks in range containing network where you are attached. If you have many neighbors with wireless networks, it will all come. Tick "Change advanced settings" and it will show Properties window. Select "Wireless Networks" tab and click "Advanced".

Step 3

In Advanced option window, select "ad hoc" networks only. You must bring this to original setting after completed connecting by Ad hoc. Skip this step if you enable to make connection without a problem.

Step 4

Click "Add" button and type name for Ad hoc network. Make it more sensitive so simply identify own network in case there are other Ad hoc in range. Check off automatic key and enter a 5 or 10 digit network key. This is similar key that you will input at printer afterward. Click OK and then OK once more. You are now attached to Ad hoc network. Half work is done.

Step 5

Ensure that printer is ON with wireless radio button. On printer control panel, push setup button to access menu. Go to Wireless Menu and push OK. Push arrow to go to Setup Wizard and push OK so the printer will mechanically look for wireless networks in variety. From list of networks, find SSID or Ad hoc name that you made and push OK and type network key. Printer must verify connection in under a minute. Attempt to print a test page to ensure all is working correctly.
