Erasing all off a laptop is easy task. Best method to clearing a hard drive is using a boot disk. Just deleting files off PC into recycling bin leaves a trail of those files. If you still plan on vending laptop or giving it away, it is vital to make sure that personal files are protected.

Instructions

Step 1

Put boot disk which in CD-ROM of laptop. If you lost, buy other one from a local sell.

Step 2

Restart PC to obtain to MS-DOS prompt screen. Push any button on keyboard to start disk.

Step 3

Push "Yes" and "Enter" after PC asks, " Are you sure you want to erase everything on drive C?"

Step 4

Allow PC to start format. This takes several minutes earlier than finish.

Step 5


Enter "fdisk/mbr" at MS-DOS prompt. Push "Enter." The screen will go back to MS-DOS prompt.

Step 6

Go to Control Panel and uninstall software programs that did not come with laptop.

Step 7

Open C drive. Delete each folder that did not come with OS. Perform this if you do not have a boot disk.

Step 8

Go to Control Panel and uninstall software programs that did not come with laptop.
