Thread: Size of my folder is shown larger than the HD capacity

I don't know why the size of my folder is shown larger than the HD capacity. I am conscious that the size on disk will be different from the real Size of the folder since the sectors and blocks are handled in different way. The size of my folder is almost 120GB more than the maximum capacity of the HD.

1) Most possibly these problems usually occur when you make use of the compressed folders. The size on disk return the space which is being used by those files and the size refer to the uncompressed file size. Hence the size of the folder shows larger than the size of the disk.

2) I would recommend you to open the command prompt and after that try to check your disk using the "chkdsk C:" and make sure whether there is any type of error in the HD. If you don't find any type of error on it might just be a compressed folder. You can find this problem using the FolderPie or a few similar applications.
