Thread: Mac HD icon vanished

I have white MacBook which is working well apart from that since 10.6.2 update has been finished, icon that shows hard drive has totally vanished from desktop. If I connect USB key or CD / DVD they generally show. Please help me to solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

First check Apple menu, "dashboards", "File Sharing". Disable file sharing if it is enabled. After that tick on symbol for disc. Hit "Enter" and present name to system. This may solve your problem.

There is utility, as an extension that permits to hide or show name of disk or folder. Maintains ctrl pressed then click on icon for disc. In menu that shows, go through list if there is not choice to show or hide name.
