Starting from scratch, grab you're self a copy of "Custom PC" great advice for exactly what you're doing each month. Try looking at each of this lot and compare similar products in online reviews. Choose a mobo from an online review or mag - Asus is personal fav - then start picking cpu/ram CPU very much depends on mobo choose - none over clocking - you may be better off with a high end dual core2 - maybe an 8400 or 8500 rather then the higher quad cores to save a bit. RAM as above - stick with well known brands, OCZ and Corsair are common brands on your budget. GPU - GTX 260 gives good bang for buck - again check out online benchmarks and testing.
