Can I have to give my system a complete overhaul? My current PC configuration is:-Motherboard:
Gigabyte 945GCM-S2L
RAM: 2 GB Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93Ghz
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 7300/7200 G5 512Mb
This configuration is enough according to the recommended configuration needed for games like Batman Arkham Asylum, Crysis and applications like Maya etc. But still these games and applications are not running to their full capacity on my Pc. Is it because my graphics card is old? If yes, are there any better (and less expensive) options available for my current motherboard? Or would I have to give my system a complete overhaul?

The answer is an emphatic yes. You haven't mentioned a budget so I'm going to assume you will be willing to spend at least Rs. 4,000. For that price you can pick up a GeForce 9600GT from brands like ZOTAC and Palit. If you can spend Rs. 6,500 or so, you can pick up a PowerColor or Sapphire Radeon HD4850.
