Thread: Can I try a PSU out of a Computer

I have currently purchased a Antec Earthwatts PSU EA650 in a fantastic offer. Somehow, I need to create a Home Theater Computer and that is why I am search for such fantastic offers. The product that I just now is only the Earthwatts PSU which i purchased currently. I need to try this PSU since I do not have the other components that would compile to form a Home Theater Computer. I need to familiar that the PSU which I have bought is a excellent one or not. So can anyone assure me How could I try my PSU out of a computer .Before I purchase the rest of the components, I need to familiar that is this PSU is actually good or not.

You can try your PSU less any load but I do not imagine it is a good view.. Instead it would be a excellent practice if you include load to your PSU. If you have the load of above the 12V then you have to begin the try with this load on other Computer till this other Computer is going to be your Secondary Computer.

Yes,,I too familiar that it is not a good view to try less any load. If you need to try your PSU then you have to include few load to it. May be I have browsed on many forums about this topic and all I acquire is this. It was written that, “Do not begin the PSU unless it is loaded”. Also extra data was given that, “you should set up a fan in order to conduct the try”. Now, I an clear that beginning to try without any load will be the chief culprit to harm your PSU.

Yes, it is correct that not to begin to try of the PSU less any load.
When I purchased the fresh PSU of ATX i also conducted to try to assure whether Can I try a PSU out of a Computer but, the trouble is that I tried it less any load. And the solution was so bad. My ATX Power Supply Unit was harmed.
