The Indian version of the 2008 Zeitgeiest-Google's compenduim of search statistics for the entire year-offers a glimpse into the minds of Indian Web users, and the events and trends most important to them. This year's listing also considers whatusers have been searching for through their mobile phones. The list of the 10 fastest rising search terms is a ranking based on how popular certain terms were as compared to last year.

In the United States, Obama 9nd Facebook were the most popular search terms, and Sarah Palin and American Idol were the fastest rising. In comparison, the global fastest-rising list has Palin right on top, with the Beijing Olympics, Facebook, Tuenti (a Spanish social network) and Heath Ledger following closely behind.
