    Default China defends Garfield ban

The Chinese have developed a new version of software that provides Internet content filtering, after finding that a previous version easily cracks. In addition to the new pornography filtering software prohibits such innocuous images, as images of Garfield or feed piglets.

State channel CCTV in the news announced that "a huge number of parents and professionals" approved filtering system called "Green Dam-Youth Escort", which should now be installed on all computers, laptops and other devices to access the Internet, sold in China . But no one from the "huge number" is not ready to give an interview. The official newspaper of the Communist Party of China's Guangming Daily rashvalila program Green Dam as a breakthrough, leading to a "civilized manage Internet access."

In principle, developers could even justify a ban on Garfield, adding, for example, that Garfield is selfish capitalist fat cat, who is homosexual and should be filtered for the benefit of the people.

Participating in the discussion I wish to say that the government has told computer makers the software must either be installed on the hard drive or enclosed on a compact disc. PC makers will be required to tell authorities how many computers they have shipped with the software, which is made by a Chinese developer under contract with the government.
That step "very directly affects the individual, and what the individual can do on their computer, how they interface with the Internet.
