Company Intel has once again changed their intentions about the upper segment of the market. The manufacturer has only just begun production supermoschnyh CPU Core i7 975 Extreme Edition and Core i7 950, but already plans to replace them with no more than in the fourth quarter of this year.

According to Intel, according to current plans in the fourth quarter will be submitted to the processor Core i7 960 that will replace the Core i7 950 and co-exist with the processor with a clock speed of Lynnfield 2.93GGts, which still has no official name.

CPU Core i7 960 will operate at a frequency 3.2GGts and have a bus with a capacity 4.8GT / s, 8Mb cache L3, and a maximum frequency of a single nucleus, obtained by using the Turbo, 3.46GGts. This model will not be blocked by the multiplier. The new Intel processor will have the same energy, 130Vt, and will officially support only DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066, but, as is known, this is a common problem for all processors Bloomfield. Perhaps, the company decided to replace the Intel Core i7 processor 950 other high-performance model with a greater frequency due to the fact that the difference in productivity Core i7 950 with a clock speed of 3.06GGts and Lynnfield quad with a clock speed of 2.93GGts insufficiently high.
