Apparently, the chipsets AMD 7-series will be a long time to work with the Phenom II processors and Athlon II, because, according to new information in the near future, no appearance of a new 8-series chipsets. The source said that the new north bridge, RD890 and RS880D, which would become the successor 790FX and 790GX, will be presented only in the first quarter of 2010, and, at least at first glance, they do not bring something new.

Chip RD890 will support AMD processors AM3, HyperTransport 3.0 and PCIe x16, two lines or four x8. Chip RS880D will provide an update to the 785G graphics core of RV620, operating at a frequency 700MGts (at 785G ─ 500MHz). As for the southern bridge, model SB850 and SB810 will support RAID 0,1 and to work up to six ports SATA 6.0Gbit / s. Thus, these chips will be the first chip with support for SATA 3.0. Built-in SB850 and SB810 function Clock Gen and Gigabit Ethernet MAC will reduce energy consumption. Power consumption of these chips up to 4Vt.
