Company AMD is preparing to release another graphic chip Radeon HD 4000 series. Model Radeon HD 4790 will be made on the basis of the chip Radeon HD 4890, which is currently the fastest graphics processor AMD. The new chip HD4790 will be based on the RV790 core and, thanks to the new specification and configuration of memory, this chip will be significantly faster than Radeon HD 4770 and slightly better than the Radeon HD 4850. It is not clear why the manufacturer decided to make a new high-performance chip for the graphics part of a series of HD 4700, but did not name him, for example, "Radeon HD 4860.

The core of RV790 runs at 600MGts, slightly lower than the frequency of core RV770, used in the Radeon HD 4850 (625MGts), but gains in productivity through the use of GDDR5 memory types with more than covers it. The new graphics processor ATI will use 256-bit interface, it will work with 512MB of memory at a frequency of 800MHz (effective 3200MGts). Based on the RV790, the new chip is compatible with all existing PCB for HD 4890. Presumably, the price on a new graphics chip will be somewhere between the price of models in the HD 4850 and HD 4870.
