HP to launch 6-core processors in a new series of workstations, the company said on today. The company released xw9400 workstation; it can use a maximum of two new six-core AMD Opteron chips. The chip, code-named Istanbul, will provide faster performance, and the same number of power companies as early AMD quad-core Opteron chip.
The xw9400 is the unique workstation in the market to sustain the Istanbul processor, mainly for the server. Workstation for users who work especially on data-intensive programs in positions like engineering design, research and digital content creation.
Other options include chip quad-core Opteron 2000 Series processor, 2.3GHz and 3.1GHz between the L3 cache has three 6M. The six-core version of the operating between 2.2GHz and 2.6GHz with 6M three L3 cache. Workstation also supports the Opteron 2000 series dual-core chip.
