AMD presents the five nuclear-6 processor

The company introduced five new AMD processors Istanbul. The three new processors designed for server-level 2P, and the two models ─ 4P/8P. Among the new processors include two SE models for servers, designed for data processing, and three HE models that consume less power than standard processors 2400 series and 8400. Later, the manufacturer plans to provide processors EE, energy which would be reduced to 45Vt.

For 2P servers AMD processors offers 2439 SE (2.8GGts, 105Vt) 2425 HE (2.1GGts, 55Vt) and the 2423 HE (2.0GGts, 55Vt). For 4P/8P Servers released model 8439 SE (2.8GGts, 105Vt) and the 8425 HE (2.1GGts, 55Vt). All five processors are made on 45nm production methods have 6Mb Cache L3 and support current Socket F (1207). Manufacturer of new processors designed to replace the 6-nuclear 75Vt models, which were announced in early June.

The new AMD processors will be competing server processors Intel, in particular, according to representatives of AMD, the model 2439 SE and 8439 SE are approximately midway between processors Xeon E5504 and E5520. AMD is aware that it can not compete with Intel in terms of productivity, and therefore trying to attract users "balanced" approach to low power consumption. Indeed, Istanbul processors in standard configuration 75Vt consume, the high variant 105Vt and low versions 55Vt that is considerably less than is written in the characteristics of processor Intel. Intel, however, always indicates the maximum power the processor, but AMD usually writes mean, that is, with absolute certainty that you can not express. Thus, users are given the opportunity to choose, without the hands of a reliable way to compare all the features of competing processors, but rather based on intuition and existing hardware.
