Industry sources told that Acer has determined to make use of DDR2 memory for a few of its notebook lineup, with ultrathin models, as DDR3 equipment have more and more become stretched.

At present, around half of Acer's notebooks mark DDR 3 memory with the company claimed former that it would make use of DDR3 for all of its notebooks in the upcoming.

Acer initially designed to implement DDR3 memory for all of its ultra-thin notebooks, but the fresh plan has overstated its freshly launched 11.6-inch Aspire 1410 ultra-thin notebook which implements DDR2 in its place, the sources distinguished.

Acer's new strategy is also estimated to slow down the access of DDR3; but the sources judge DDR3 will still be the normal DRAM requirement in 2010 when Calpella shows up.
