Yes, it is only one chipset, and designed by Intel for the powerful but relatively inexpensive platform for Intel. And despite this, Gigabyte shows almost unnatural love for this chipset, planning to provide no less than nine models of motherboards based on it.
List of future Motherboard GigaByte, based on a chipset P55, includes models such as the two Boards format MicroATX, namely P55M-UD2/UD4, and seven models of ATX, P55-UD6/UD5/UD4/UD3P/UD3R / UD3/US3L. All of these boards support the processors Intel Socket 1156, have two additional ounces of copper in the layers of food and substrate, as well as supporting technology DES2 (Dynamic Energy Saver). Prices of new Gigabyte boards are not yet known. Presumably, they'll appear on the market immediately after the official announcement chipset P55.
