Company NVIDIA quietly introduced a new embedded solution based on the architecture of Ion. The new graphics chip Ion LE is designed for entry-level netbukov and in many ways similar to the previous version. The most notable change is the only support DirectX 9 and DirectX 10, as a full-fledged graphic chip Ion. The main objectives when creating a new model was the reduction of energy costs and ensure performance characteristics superior to similar solutions from Intel, namely 945GSE and the new GN40.
Cost netbukov low, so even a small difference in pricing models based on solutions from Intel and NVIDIA will lead to a substantial difference in sales. From this point of view, step NVIDIA, it is logical. However, while prior to the release of Windows 7 is just a few weeks, the question already is how much more time will be sold netbuki with operating system Windows XP.
Like Windows Vista, and Windows 7 may work on your system, graphics chip, which does not support DX10, but the number of operating system functions will be unavailable. It seems unlikely that any user after the official announcement Windows 7 will want to buy a new system with Ion LE, not able to fully support any operating system other than Windows XP and, perhaps, some versions of Linux, whose presence in the market is not enough high to provide sales NVIDIA chips significant impact.
