It's been a modest while ever since TDK has made some reports in the unlimited race for next giant hard drive step forward, but it looks like that could be altering quite soon, with a freshly exposed roadmap representing that the corporation presently has some 640GB drive platters suitable for a 3.5-inch drive going throughout qualification tests by its OEMs. While nothing's clearly authorized presently so far, TDK is allegedly looking to start mass making of the platters in the month of November this year, which could cover the way for some four-platter, 2.5TB drives to entrance as early as February of next year. As Register Hardware points out, a five-platter, 3.2TB drive would also be probable, though rather less possible. We can dream, although.
