Asus has move toward up with a latest "Absolute Pitch Hi-Fi" motherboard series which is, as far-off as we can observe for now, targeting the HTCP market. The series will have, at least for now, two motherboards, the M4A785G HTPC/RC as well as M4A785G HTPC. Together motherboards are full to capacity with a few audio related features as well as are based on AMD's 785G chipset with support for AM2 (+) processors.
As this series aim the HTPC market, Asus has determined to set three pretty attractive audio features on these motherboards. These features contain DTS Surround Sensation UltraPC, Envy HD along with BD192/24.
The DTS Surround Sensation UltraPC should offer, at least on paper, an outstanding virtual surround sound which should work with stereo speakers or headphones, stronger with cleaner bass sounds with "Bass Enhancement" along with clearer voice sound with "Voice Clarification". The Envy HD present 10-channel HD audio, as the BD 192/24 get lossless Blu-Ray audio with support for 192 kHz/24-bit.
The awful side, if it can be believe as a bad side, is the truth that this Absolute Pitch Hi-Fi needs independent audio power using a single molex connector situated on the border of the board. This must give an assured reduction in electronic sound as well as must give cleaner sound, again on paper at least. The new-fangled Absolute Pitch Hi-Fi motherboards also mark gold-plated RCA stereo audio connectors.
As for the technical part of things, both of the new-fangled Absolute Pitch Hi-Fi motherboards supports on AMD's 785G/SB710 chipset with support for AM2 as well as AM2+ processors. They can take up to 16GB of DDR2-1200(O.C.)/1066/800/667 memory; have a single PCI-Express x16 slot, two PCI-Express x1 slots along with a single PCI slot. DVI, HDMI with D-Sub outputs, five SATA as well as one eSATA port, Firewire with Gigabit LAN are also on board. The attractive truth is that the rear panel I/O has no keyboard with mouse PS/2 ports which are replaced with HDMI as well as optical S/PDIF ports.
The only dissimilarity among these two motherboards is the truth that the M4A785G HTPC/RC arrives with a remote control, a pleasant accumulation for an HTPC system. Unluckily, neither the price nor the accessibility date has been announced.
