AMD has once again confirmed that the development of next-generation Opteron processors, known as G34, is on schedule, and reported that their release is scheduled for the first quarter of 2010. Earlier, representatives of AMD not spell out the timing of issuance, roughly speaking about 2010. It is now known that the manufacturer seeks to produce these models in the first quarter of next year.

Recently AMD has released an energy-efficient six-core processors Istanbul with the ACP 40 W (power 60W), which will compete with six-core processors, Intel Dunnington.

Further, the manufacturer confirmed that the new processors AMD Magny Cours will be released in two versions, one with eight cores, and the second with twelve cores. AMD will release them in the Opteron 6000 series, and their consumption should be roughly the same as the power of modern high-performance processor Opteron.
