7 Japanese companies, one objective -- strike Intel at its individual game. Below the leadership of Japanese government, 7 major names in Japanese business -- Toshiba, Hitachi, Fujitsu, NEC, Panasonic, Renesas Technology, as well as Canon -- have united hands to enlarge a super CPU. According to contract, the companies will jointly group in their income to develop an innovative, consistent, power-saving CPU.
The entire development is allegedly being business by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, with a major capital of 3-4 billion yen ($32-$43 million).
Essentially the complete reason of this project is to develop an energy efficient processor which uses 70% fewer power.
Remarkable fixation about its plan is that it would be power-driven by solar cells. The final invention should be all set by 2012 and would be used in an extensive range of customer devices including TVs, cameras, etc.
