A list of all the upcoming chips for graphics cards, which is slated for the coming months, AMD and nVidia. Presenting the September 23 graphics chips series ATI Radeon HD 5800 (Cypress), AMD company prepares to release a series of chip Radeon HD 5700 (Juniper), a video card based on which are expected to be worth about $ 200 per batch of 1000 pieces.
At the same time, nVidia has finally met after a long delay to release their 40 nm solutions with support for DirectX 10.1, the chip GeForce G210, based on GT218/D10M1 and chip GeForce GT220, made on the basis of GT216/D10M2. GeForce G210, referring to the initial level of the indicative price of $ 40, has 24 universal CPU and DDR2 memory with 64-bit interface, while the GeForce GT 220, refers to an entry-level price of about $ 60, has 48 shaders and DDR3 memory with 128 bit interface. Shortly thereafter, nVidia plans to release another video card that supports DX10.1 on GT215/D10P1, namely the GeForce GT 240 with 96 shaders and GDDR5 memory with a 128-bit memory interface.
Originally nVidia had planned to release a solution for enthusiasts, codenamed GT212 but it turned out that it would be pointless against formidable Cypress. Instead, nVidia has concentrated on the next generation GPU with support for DX11, GT300, and is determined to present it in December this year. According to rumors, and now nVidia partners will be able to make their own cards, which means that the range of graphics chip Fermi will be more interesting than just a list of casts of the reference model, made by different manufacturers. According to available information, GT300 will be more than twice the universal processors than the previous generation GPU. That is, the new chip will be more than 480 shaders, because the GT200 240 shaders.Video cards based on the GT300 will be equipped with GDDR5 memory and 384-bit memory interface.
It seems, nVidia is confident that her new record beat the GT300 ATI. However, it is too early to say which of the graphics giant will be the winner in the war for performance GPU, especially given that over DX11 has not done these experiments. Of course, AMD has in store graphics cards with two chips Cypress, known as the Hemlock, which can bring a lot of trouble nVidia. In addition, according to rumors, is not far Issue Radeon HD 5890. Yes, the last quarter of this year will be very interesting.
At the beginning of next year, AMD intends to continue production of chips Series Evergreen, presenting Redwood and Cedar, which belong to the main segment.
