Since the CD-ROM, optical media have evolved to provide a storage capacity ever more important. The manufacturers do not however rest on their laurels since many services research and development already working on future optical media. TDK has thus developed a prototype optical disc offers a storage capacity of 320 GB.

Composed of 10 layers of 32GB, this disc can be burnt using a blue laser-Biolets of the same type as that used by Blu-ray. To send to stack as many diapers, TDK teams have played on the density of germanium dioxide use. Of course, the marketing of optical disk is not for tomorrow, but the manufacturer should still enjoy the CEATEC JAPAN 2009 to present its prototype.
