Western Digital has released the first external hard drive enclosure which includes a screen similar to that found on the e-papers.

The Smart Display WD

Present on the Elite and My Book Studio Technology Smart Display indicates the remaining space and can also be used to label the user writing what he wants to distinguish his support. The advantage of such a system is that the screen works even when the box is not powered. It is therefore possible to know what is on the disk, even if it is placed on a shelf away from the computer.

If the idea is interesting and certainly more elegant than a sticker, we regret it is possible to include twelve characters and it is hoped that the firm will expand the screen quickly.
