The United States Patent and Trademark Office have declared that the trademark belonged to Mighty Mouse Man & Machine, not Apple, and it expects the firm to the apple quickly found a new name for its mouse.

A case that dates back to 2007

The trial initially tied CBS and Man & Machine (supplier of computer products for the medical world) who disputed the mark. CBS was the first to file "Mighty Mouse" in May 2007. However, when Man & Machine did the same thing in December 2007, he also filed a complaint against CBS and Apple. The firm produced a mouse resistant to water called Mighty Mouse since 2004 and therefore believed that the mark actually belonged to him.

Apple would not have gone to trial

In June this year, CBS and Man & Machine have decided to settle the dispute amicably, the first company abandoning the brand. This allowed it to continue with the procedure and to be the legal owner of "Mighty Mouse”. With hindsight we have today, it would have been more efficient and faster to buy the Apple brand from Man & Machine instead of getting bogged down in this dispute.

We therefore expect that the firm abandons the Mighty Mouse trademark. If you have ideas, we are confident that Apple will be happy.
