Samsung WiMAX products 2.0 using a chip compatible with the standard 802.16m were demonstrated at the Telecom World 2009 held in Switzerland.
Samsung announced that it had already begun testing the first products 802.16m with Russian operator Yota, which speaks of a market by the end of next year. It is expected however that this technology is established by the majority of operators worldwide in 2011 and 2012. Both players believe that WiMAX will offer 2.0 performances four times greater than the current 802.16e. The IEEE talking about a download speed of 120 Mbits / s, against 60 Mbps amount. This new revision allows switching from GSM to WiMAX network without interruption, and Samsung phones are capable of managing VoIP, providing a means to lower operators' costs and bill the user.
