After a painfully long wait, the company nVidia has finally begun to release versions for GT200 cards primary level, and the GeForce GT 210 and GT 220 finally available to consumers. In the new video card will be installed on a radically shortened version of the GPU GT200, which provides very low power consumption and minimal heat dissipation. The first tests the performance of these chips show that their capacity is also small.
Even though the new chips are not in any way not designed for demanding users, they still can not cope with the competitive supply, AMD Radeon HD 4670. The average video on the HD 4670 is a bit cheaper than the GeForce GT 220 from nVidia.
Powered by GeForce GT 220, made on the basis of GT216 on 40 nm process technology, has 48 universal processors. Video cards on this chip will have a 1GB or 512MB of DDR2 or DDR3 with 128-bit memory bus. Reference frequency: 615MGts (kernel), 1335MGts (shaders) and 790MGts (1GB DDDR3 memory). Slower chip G210, made on the basis of GT218, has 16 processor cores, 64-bit memory interface DDR2, and will operate at frequencies 589MGts (kernel), 1404MGts (shaders) and 800MHz (DDR2 memory). All versions support DirectX 10.1, as expected, but do not support DirectX 11.
nVidia hopes that support CUDA, the presence HDMI and support for playback Blu-Ray will attract buyers. At the beginning of next year, nVidia plans to release a new generation of budget graphics cards supporting DirectX 11 and significantly increased productivity. Many partners nVidia, including Gigabyte, Point Of View, Zotac, MSI, and ESC, have already begun to release their own versions of GeForce graphics chips at 210 and GT 220.
