A violent loss of data MacOS users report, inter alia, in Apple support forums. Anyone with "Snow Leopard" as admin but not with a guest account logs in, could experience a nasty surprise: After a new sign on the removed system with the main account has been some users, all user data: video, MP3 files and documents have disappeared - and the admin account then as new.

The bug has not been clearly reproduced and therefore an analytical research into the cause still fails. Times the error occurs, sometimes not. The Guest account is in principle for (system) visitors thought they would like to use one Apple computer without a password quickly and easily. Normally, the Guest account disabled.

If this is the case, the error does not occur. Also include all clear, there all the users of the snow leopard, which have set up guest access only after an upgrade of Leopard on Mac OS 10.6: Affected will be only the systems in which the account was already activated on Leopard and then upgrade received on 10.6.

This should result in the number of those who have suffered a loss of data, significantly narrow. Who wants to play it safe, should disable the guest account on Snow Leopard. We know the problem but probably for some time: is "In his column" MacFixIt ready since the end of September tips on how to use the Snow Leopard DVD, and Apple's Time Machine a Folder or System Restore performs.
