LSI, specialist storage controllers offers a new range of cards compatible with the recent standard SAS 6 gigabits / s, which achieves 600 MB / s per connector (depending on the encoding used 10b8b).

Three PCI-Express

The first card, the 9211-SAS 4i connector offers a mini SAS (SFF8087) that can receive, via a port multiplier, four hard drives. Each disk drive has logged 600 MB / s bandwidth and the card is interfaced with PCI-Express x8 (4GB / s PCI-Express 2.0). The 9211-8i SAS offers the same interface, but with two SFF8087 connectors while the 9200-8th uses SFF8088, for external use. The three maps are compatible RAID with levels 0, 1 and 10 supported. Importantly, a PowerPC processor (533 MHz) is integrated on the map for the management of RAID and that the three models are available.
