AMD has illustrated a presentation in which it evaluate its HD 5800 generation with Nvidia's future Fermi, or else as AMD likes to call it a "Paper Dragon".
The PR wars among AMD as well as Nvidia have started once more as we draw closer to Nvidia's launch of Fermi. Nvidia still believes that Fermi strike the HD 5870, but on the further hand, AMD is selling more and more HD 5800 series cards, as well as Fermi is no where to be seen so far.
AMD's Fermi performance guess are approximate, plus until we see several real world performance numbers, we can't be sure of something. AMD seems to be also scared by Fermi, or else just wants to maintain the Fermi rumors at bay as well as induce those that are waiting for Fermi to go for HD 5800 series currently.
Nvidia's Fermi also sound great on paper, as well as we are sure that Nvidia has by currently within pushed it next to HD 5870, and that's where Nvidia has a minor benefit, as it already knows how quick the HD 5870 actually is. We doubt that Nvidia would even state those bold claims unless they are pretty sure that Fermi is at least a bit quicker than HD 5870.
On the other hand AMD is by now functioning on Hemlock as well as selling its HD 5800 series DirectX 11 capable cards. The only fixation left for Nvidia to do is work hard as well as get Fermi out as soon as it can, as now AMD is firmly grasping the graphics card market.
