The code name of the Day is a name from the Bible, Joshua. But it is also the name of a processor, the Cyrix III. Joshua (Joshua French) is the successor of Moses, who led the Jewish people to the Promised Land in the Bible.

Joshua

The Joshua is an x86 product by Cyrix compatible with Socket 370 Pentium III processors from Intel. Relatively efficient calculations on integers (it is the level of processor time), the FPU is very slow and only runs at half the CPU frequency. Overall, the performance is so devastating to anything that uses this unit, such as games, MP3 compression, etc. In fact, the Cyrix III will be very little used, via (who had bought Cyrix at the time of the output processor) who preferred to use the work of Centaur (and smart Winchip 4) for the Via C3.
