Company Intel once again updated the family of desktop processors Core i7, adding a model of Core i7 960. This CPU supports socket LGA-1366 and is intended to work on motherboards with chipset Intel X58 Express. Even after replacing the CPU Intel Core i7 965 Extreme Edition on the Core i7 975 Extreme Edition is still likelihood for non-XE models Core i7 with the same frequency as that of i7 965 XE, although with a locked multiplier and bus frequency.
Core i7 960 clocked at 3.20GGts (24.0 x 133MHz), using the Turbo Boost frequency single core can grow to 3.43GGts. The new processor has four cores and supports Hyper-Threading, which allows the operating system to use up to eight logical processors. Speed QuickPath Interconnect is 4.8GT / s, the processor supports up to 24GB DDR3 RAM in-phase mode with the bus up to 192-bit. Each processor core has a dedicated L2 cache 256KB, and 8MB of L3 cache shared by all four cores. Core i7 960 is made on 45nm HKMG process and has power consumption 130W.It is assumed that the Core i7 960 will soon replace the Core i7 950.
