The recent portable hard drives in a 2.5-inch format of the manufacturer Verbatim had a maximum storage capacity of 500 gigabytes. In recent changes to the model, the manufacturer had taken only in the paint (see "External Hard Drives: Verbatim's driven color").

The latest models have a capacity of 640 gigabytes. They too contain a one 2.5-inch hard drive that works with 5400 revolutions per minute. An external power supply is not necessary that the energy takes over the USB interface. Verbatim calculates: If you have 2.2 MB for a picture, 4 MB for an MP3 song and 500 MB for a video found on the storage up to 160,000 songs or 1280 pictures videos or 290,000 square. The model "Portable Hard Drive USB 2.0 640 GB" is available now for just under 120 euros in the trade. Included with is Nero's "BackItUp 4 Essentials" for backups.

Bring "High capacity with an elegant appearance in line is the claim by Verbatim," said Kai Miroshnik of Verbatim the market launch. "With this new hard drive it is successful in creating more space without having to forgo the need to slim design."
