Western Digital has released the results of its first fiscal quarter 2010. Good news, the results are up, whether in the previous quarter, or from the same quarter last year. The turnover of the manufacturer of hard drives and flash, reached 2.2 billion, while profits reached 288 million. The demand side of the HDD is soaring with 44.1 million units shipped this quarter, against 40 million last fiscal quarter 2009.
The advance of Seagate on the number two industry has greatly reduced since 2.9 million units now separating the two competitors. 10 months after seeing reduced the salaries of some of its executives, the U.S. manufacturer has granted an increase this quarter. Regarding the current quarter, Western Digital is between 2.25 and 2.35 billion turnover. The company performance is exceptional considering it is still not coming revolution going on in the market, where margins are much higher. WD recently confirmed he would enter the field this year without knowing whether the firm mentioned the calendar year 2009 or fiscal 2010...
