Strange but true: the company AMD has traditionally focused on customers, decided to leave all the supporters of DirectX 9 in hanged state. According to AMD, its graphics card DirectX 9 will not be officially supported under Windows 7. Rather, as hopelessly outdated.

AMD wrote: "Note: The generation of DirectX 9 graphics accelerators, ATI Radeon Graphics is not officially supported under Windows 7. Optionally, customers can install under Windows 7 graphics driver, ATI Catalyst Windows Vista. Remember that functions are not supported none of the new graphics drivers Windows 7 (WDDM 1.1, the level of graphics driver support is limited to Windows Vista WDDM 1.0). Using driver ATI Catalyst Windows Vista for Windows 7 is not officially supported by AMD, so AMD will not provide any support for users who work with this configuration.

The listing of graphics cards, AMD is not supported under Windows 7, is quite extensive as well as consist of a series ATI Radeon 9500, ATI Radeon 9550, ATI Radeon 9600, ATI Radeon 9700, ATI Radeon 9800, ATI Radeon X300, ATI Radeon X550, ATI Radeon X600, ATI Radeon X700, ATI Radeon X800, ATI Radeon X850, ATI Radeon X1050, ATI Radeon X1300, ATI Radeon X1550, ATI Radeon X1600, ATI Radeon X1650, ATI Radeon X1800, ATI Radeon X1900, ATI Radeon X1200, ATI Radeon X1250, ATI Radeon X2100 as well as ATI Radeon Xpress.

Most chipsets with IGP will not officially support Windows 7, which, to put it mildly, somewhat surprising. Owners of video cards listed above, no longer get any support for any new operating systems. No doubt, AMD is worth remembering that most modern games on the market support DirectX 9 and created per console, and such a move could harm the reputation of the manufacturer. The new driver under Windows 7 from nVidia supports all video cards, ranging from the GeForce 6, which supports DirectX 9.
