Canonical has released a new version of Ubuntu Server integrates default API Eucalyptus bringing cloud computing.

The cloud as needed

It is true that companies tend to turn to solutions from VMware or Oracle for their cloud, but the fact is that Ubuntu may be an attractive solution to satisfy the small and medium-sized structures. This solution also offers the advantage of testing its cloud privately before going to a public structure on EC2, for example.

Open source: the king of cloud?

API Eucalyptus takes up the offer of services from Amazon and if it was delivered with the previous version of the operating system, its activation in Hand has been simplified. Applications written for Ubuntu 9.10 and Eucalyptus can be executed on a private cloud or a virtualized server in a data center. It is also possible to send the program on a cloud, such as that rented by Amazon, this OS is compatible with the images KVM and Xen EC2.

The great advantage of this solution is that it is possible to replicate a large number of machines without having to pay expensive licenses. This new version of Ubuntu is available on the website of the publisher. It is also possible to download Canonical Landscape for those wishing to take advantage of the tool management and monitoring that keeps these Ubuntu machines on the LAN or on the cloud.
