Nicholas Negroponte admitted that the next XO would not be a dual screen model as originally planned.
A project delayed
Instead of the ambitious plan, but impractical, the next version of this notebook for countries development will be similar to last time, but will carry a more powerful ARM processor. Negroponte calls it the XO 1.75 to show that this is a small change compared to the 1.5 version carrying a VIA processor.
Another project is updated
The 2.0 version of the XO with two touch screens is still under investigation, but no release date has been given yet. OLPC continues to think big and hopes that by 2012 it will release a computer that resembles a tablet of plastic, unbreakable, water-resistant, with a thickness of 6 mm, with a color screen capable of being readable in bright sunlight and a qu'1W not asking for work, all sold at $ 75.
