Nvidia continues to work with their G2xx architecture and after the launch of two new budget models earlier this autumn; it is almost time for a new card in the lower midrange. GeForce GT 240 is expected to be launched shortly and is based on Nvidia's GT 215 GPU, which with its 40nm manufacturing technology comes with support for DirectX 10.1 and, of course, PhysX, the acceleration of physics effects, one of Nvidia's most popular features today.

Card specifications have now begun to leak out, and a GPU clock speed of 550MHz and 96 shader processors clocked at 1340MHz, it is quite clear that we are not talking about a top model in the manufacturer's catalog.

Graphics chip talking to a 512MB or 1GB of GDDR3 memory, a large buffer through a 128-bit bus, and as a replacement for the GeForce 9600 series.
