IvenSense just developed a three axis gyroscope chip combining MEMS resonators needed to capture the movements x, y and z. This is the ITG-3200.

From two to a chip

This new technology opens the way for cheaper since it reduces production costs. In effect, it lowers the number of chips needed for a single chip of 4 mm x 4 mm x 0.9 mm instead of two, which also curb consumption by 50% to 67% compared to conventional solutions.

Democratization products gyro

It expects the first products using this chip land during the first half of next year. There are many applications through image stabilization in digital cameras and phones, GPS interface and peripherals such as mice or remotes.
