Processor and platform manufacturer VIA has this week declare a innovative series of low-power processors. VIA Nano-3000 are the manufacturers of best ever as well as power-efficient processors, which are expected to appear on mobile platforms in the first quarter of next year. Nano-3000 is based on the x86 platform and comes with a CPU core which supports, among other things, 64-bit SSE4 with built-in security features in the circuit Padlock Security Engine.
VIA will make the processor available in clock speeds between 1.0 to 2.0 GHz and compared with the manufacturer already power-efficient CPUs Nano 3000 will provide around 20% better performance, while taking 20% less power.
VIA Nano-3000 is backwards compatible with previous Nano and VIA CPU platforms that uses NanoBGA2 shelf which facilitates the transition phase.
With a power consumption of only half a watt of peak models hope VIA grab market share from including Intel Atom on netbook.
