Discussing the future chips Fermi, people generally fall into two camps. The first convinced that the Fermi ready for release in November or December 2009, while the latter consider it unlikely that say in the best case for release at the end of the first quarter of 2010.
NVidia CEO Jen-Sun Huang (Jen-Hsun Huang) commented on these rumors and said that the mass production of Fermi will be established only in early 2010. At a meeting with financial analysts Huang said: "Next year will be an interesting first quarter, because, in reality, we need more plates in the first quarter. The reason for this is the complete separation of Fermi on three different lines of products: GeForce, Quadro, and Tesla" . Note that in understanding nVidia first quarter begins January 26 and ends April 26. That is, at best, Fermi will be available at the end of the first quarter of 2010. If something goes wrong, as planned, but this possibility can not be excluded, then it will have to go to the second quarter of 2010.
There is still a possibility that nVidia will demonstrate, or even release a limited edition of Fermi before the first quarter of 2010. This can be for example, model family Tesla. But to appear on mass-market all the products will be no earlier than March 2010. This period is also confirmed by the report SemiAccurate. Analysts also consider the second quarter of 2010 as the term is quite likely a new generation of chips nVidia.
This, of course, quite a long delay, if you remember hints at release in 2009, which have long been generously heard by nVidia and some journalists. In addition, it gives ATI an incredibly long six months, or even more, during which the video card series Radeon HD 5800 will not be any serious rival. By that time, as the Fermi finally will be released, ATI will have either actively translating Evergreen at finer process technology, or closely involved with the architecture of the next generation.
Numerous disputes, delays and virtually no competitive products GeForce until the first quarter of 2010, yes, things nVidia do not go too well. But there is good news. nVidia announced the good end of the third quarter of 2009, with revenue of about $ 903mln. nVidia has recovered from the losses of the previous quarter, a profit of about $ 61.7mln. Incredible, but nVidia is confident that its revenue in the last quarter (from October 26, 2009 to January 26, 2010) will grow. That hardly gets through a series of GeForce. Lifetime of the GTX 200 is coming to an end, video card with GT21x perfectly competitive (although we must pay tribute to the PR-department nVidia). So on what basis the approval of nVidia? Tesla? Quadro? Tegra? The fourth quarter could be further proof that nVidia is not so heavily dependent on food GeForce.
