Last week rumors about Nvidia's betting on an x86-based processor architecture, a new impetus after the Sightings hire engineers from the former CPU manufacturer Transmeta. Even then, we were reluctant to Nvidia really had no intention of engaging in battle with Intel and AMD in the very tough x86 market and now the company president made a hole in the rumor once and for all (?). In a telephone interview said Jen-Hsun Huang flatly no to the question about the new rumors had no substance.
He developed his answers to point out that Nvidia's future plans are very clear, both internally and externally, that its graphics chips that case, albeit with support for more CPU related tasks.
In other words, Nvidia is the idea that more or less to fight with CPUs, using its own GPU architecture. In the same breath took Huang to show its loyalty to the semiconductor manufacturer, TSMC.
The newly established competitor Global Foundries has inflates from rival AMD, and is therefore clearly not in Nvidia's future plans.
Nvidia can of course always change its plans, but we should probably not expect any x86-based CPU from the manufacturer in the near future.
