VMware has just submitted View 4, facilitating the management of virtualized offices while improving performance.
The VDI (Virtual Desktop Interface)
This solution is for companies wishing to easily control the desktop environments of their companies by offering a VDI solution. The server virtualizes the desktop, which is then received by the computer of an employee who acts as a thin client. For more information on this subject, we recommend reading our folder VMWorld 2009: the future of virtualization is emerging. "
Optimizations
Today, VMware is driving the point with View 4, which incorporates vSphere 4 and brings a lot of new features and optimizations. The firm first worked on security with centralized management of permissions and security policies. The publisher has also added features to more easily restore the system after a crash.
This new version incorporates what the company calls the PC over IP (PCoIP) adapting the virtualized desktop, depending on the configuration of the workstation. It is possible to make multi-screen, to optimize resolution for each monitor, to more easily manage USB devices and printers on the LAN.
Availability and pricing
Available November 19 next, VMware France has not sent the dollar price. VMware View 4 Enterprise Edition that includes VMware vSphere 4 for desktops and VMware View Manager 4 is selling $ 150 per concurrent connection (approx. € 100), against $ 250 (approx. € 167) for the Premier version, which includes VMware vSphere 4 for desktops, VMware View Manager 4, and VMware ThinApp 4 VMware View Composer.
