Intel prepares to launch a new revision of his now famous P55 chipset. Current B2 stepping, this chipset should soon switch to B3 stepping. The first copies of the test are available for manufacturers of motherboards for a little over a month, but initial shipments of chipsets for manufacturers desiring should not take place before December. However, by February 2010, all manufacturers must expect this new stepping.

Pin to pin compatible with the current revision, the P55 chipset "B3" does not require hardware changes at the motherboard. In contrast, Intel says that the B3 stepping requires a small update the BIOS.
