A rising number of computers, generally low-cost, lack of unity and optical chips require therefore installing the operating system, use an external DVD drive. An alternative, more practical, is to transfer the files to install the OS on a USB key with a small dedicated software in order to "boot" the installation process directly from the USB interface. A practical solution so that Microsoft began offering its own tools with the release of Windows 7.
A tool called "USB / DVD Windows 7" which makes it possible to use an ISO file in Windows 7 legally bought the store from Microsoft. Problem, according to a blogger Specialist Microsoft ecosystem, this tool published by the American giant violating the GPL as it would in fact designed by reusing part of a code used by open source software called ImageMaster similar free. Thus, Microsoft is required - by using such a piece of code - to publish his application under the same license, and therefore also to publish the source code. Microsoft could also not ignore that ImageMaster is licensed under GPL, the software is hosted on CodePlex, the open source platform the Redmond company.
Racing results, Microsoft no longer offers a download tool and conducting an internal investigation to find out what it is. Meanwhile, to install an OS from a bootable USB drive there are obviously all sorts of utilities, most of which are freeware.
