The launch of Windows 7 has so far been a success for Microsoft. Reviewer’s worldwide operating system gave very good sense and the reaction among users has also been largely positive. So it was probably not a surprise that the launch was a commercial success. NetApplications did a survey only two weeks after the launch and found that Windows 7 has a market share of 4% among the computers that have internet access.

4% may not sound so impressive, but in comparison, Windows Vista, it took seven months to achieve the same market share as Windows 7 done in two weeks. By late October, when Windows 7 exclusively sold in 8 days, the market share up at 2.15%, which must be seen as a little impressive.

Windows XP is still clearly dominant in the market; with a 70.48% market share. From there it is a big jump down to Windows Vista, Mac OS and others.
