Asustek Computer is for most of our reader's most known component manufacturer Asus. As the world's largest motherboard vendor ASUS has made great progress even in the PC market and in particular with their laptops in recent years. The company has ambitions to become the third largest manufacturer of notebook computers by 2011 and will now anecdotal evidence that a takeover could be on the agenda.
According to data published in the Chinese newspaper Commercial Times, Asustek will be in conversation with the manufacturer Toshiba on the possible purchase of their notebook business.
ASUS has not commented or confirmed the information and according to Commercial Times is not something to be completed between the two parties. But think ASUS is looking for suitable targets to expand their market shares. Toshiba is one of the largest players in the notebook market, Asus had undoubtedly given a completely different position in the market.
If a takeover becomes necessary, it is unclear how the brand and sales might be affected.
