The manufacturers of memory cards, and more particularly MicroSD, trying to get rid of their stocks of NAND. After a slight fall in the average price of flash memory chips 16 and MLC 32 GB, Chinese vendors were hastily loosened their inventories by lowering their rates. A 2GB MicroSD has lost 15% of its value in one week to stabilize at 4.5 million.
Direct consequence, prices for NAND have also fallen. A chip 8-Gb MLC has lost 10% over the same period. We can not talk about a long-term trend for the moment, but a fall in the cost of flash memory is certainly positive for potential buyers of a flash drive for Christmas! Fingers crossed.
The DRAM also fall, which is normal after large orders of computer manufacturers, for the launch of Windows 7 and the Christmas season. Lower rates; however, is more limited than on the NAND, so do not expect a fall of prices in shops. After a period of increase, the memory markets find their seasonal patterns, which do not displease the consumer!
